While I have a soft spot for Taco John's and occasionally Taco Bell, I have to say that neither beat homemade tacos/quesadillas/taco salads. Usually when we get Taco John's it's because somebody has a craving for the potato ole's (mmmm Super Ole's!) or a Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell. But on nights when we schedule homemade tacos, the smell of browning ground beef with spices makes me super excited.
When we make homemade tacos you can count on there being Zarazan (sp?) dirty rice, fresh tomatoes, salsa, lots of shredded cheese, ground beef, sometimes guacamole (but only if the hubby makes it from scratch), lettuce, and occasionally homemade guacamole. Soooo delicious!
